Children exercising In April 2013, the Department for Education, Children doing aerobicsHealth and Culture, Media and Sport announced new funding of £150 million to support the delivery of PE and school sport. Funding is being allocated to all state-maintained secondary, primary, middle and special schools (including Non-maintained special schools), academies and pupil referral units with primary aged pupils for the period September 2013 to 31st August 2014 and then from 1st September 2014 to 31st August 2015. Our school will be receiving around £8550 in two instalments.

We are using our Sports Premium to improve the quality of PE and Sport provision in the following ways:

  • Employing specialist PE teachers or qualified coaches to work alongside our teachers in lessons to increase their subject knowledge and confidence in PE.
  • Providing equipment for the above sports to be continued within the curriculum.
  • Providing cover staff to release teachers for professional development in PE and sport.
  • Buying into William De Ferrers School Sports Partnership who provides many of our free training courses.
  • Providing at a reduced rate separate key stage 1 and key stage 2 after schools clubs.
  • Providing training and payment for a member of staff to introduce play leaders for a dinner time.
  • Supporting regular sports tournaments, festivals and competitions for pupils off all ages.
